[Mentos Mishap - Glummies]

Animation talent

Your talent as an animator is obvious. The art was good.

The story itself was pretty predictable. Just the name Mentos Mishap let me know pretty much what to expect. And it wasn't funny. It just wasn't funny.

Also consider a different theme. This has been kinda done to death. Retarded Animal Babies, Happy Tree Friends, etc. I've seen the Cute fluffy animal / horrifically awful situation juxtaposition done. And this doesn't really do it in a new way.

Don't stop though. You don't need me to tell you. You've got talent.

P.S. It needs a replay button. I don't want to listen to it loop over and over again while I review. It works with Weeble's stuff because it's seemless. This has a beginning and an end. When it's done let it be done.

Thank you for your honesty....this is the first submission. I believe HappyTree friends vs Glummies are very different as it is a softer core representation and mild humor. The mentos thing has been overplayed....but comeon....a bears head ripping off because of it....Funny! Thanks for your honesty! We will work on the loop thing....haha

Sync

Your sound was waaaaaaaay out of sync. Set sound to streaming. I think this will get blammed in part because your visual punchline comes, again, waaaaaay after the sound cuts off. I couldn't tell if this would be funny synced up. I wasn't that amused. And I should have been. It's a shape wearing lingerie.

i think the out of sync-ness is due to the fact that i had no proper mic, plus i can never get my audio to sync right anyway.

this is not good

I'm offended by your inability to pronounce words. Bosom. Bo (like 'book without the 'k') som (zem). And the 'dot dot dot' is called and ellipsis. Be less ignorant. Listen, I think the mormon religion is a bunch of crap. But this wasn't clever or funny it was just hateful. Which gets an extra little twist of hypocrisy when add in the christian propaganda at the end.

Use streaming sound. Look it up.

I can't tell you how often I see this. There should be a requirement. Before you are allowed to submit anything you should have to know about streaming sound.

Other than that there really wasn't anything here that was funny or interesting. Better luck next time.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate the work involved. It's just that I've seen it before and I've seen it done better.

blublu.org has a fantastic video on it utilizing the same technique to greater effect. Really exploring some of the boundaries of what can be done.

What can you add to this? What can you do with this that no one has yet?

True I know it has been done before, but at this point almost everything has been done at least once, the only thing you can do is basically try to put your own spin on it, and do it in a stylized manner. So to your two questions, technically I can't add anything to it because it's finished, and it's what I had in my head and I'm proud of it, the only thing I could've done is improve on it, but I can't go back and improve on it since it's done now and the wall of that shack is already filled up with it. As for the second question I tried to answer that in the first of this response.

sound issues

The sound was out of sync. Use streaming to get proper synchronization.

Wow

Even after you fixed it... it was still awful. What was the point of this? A bad animation loop backgrounded by a bad song. Cheesy lulz all around. You put more effort into submitting it than you did in making it.

Speech and VoiceOver come preinstalled on every mac... for free... and they're much more advanced...

VoiceOver is in the Utilities folder, and Speech is in the Prefs Pane...

Dude. You don't need a PC... you need to learn how to use the computer you have.

I'll start you out... open TextEdit (free & preinstalled) and Speech in System Prefs. Pick a voice you like in the prefs pane... then type something in Textedit.... then in the menu - Edit>Speech>Start Speaking.

Unless of coarse your still using OS9... well actually then just look at simpletext for 5 minutes... it too shall speek.

Well done.

This work shows a lot of time and effort. A lot crafting skills. And some great art.

You can take that and ignore the rest. However. If you want to improve.

There were a lot of disperate elements and styles that weren't visually linked. I'm all about a more abstract 'story', and this is not what I am refering to. You used a lot of different styles to render the different scenes. But none of them seemed in any way related. I saw 3d, traced bitmap, and hand rendered scenes; none of which felt like they belonged together. Even with the hand drawn scenes. One scene they seemed meticulously well rendered the next they seemed cartoonish. It didn't seem like a choice. It seemed like you were making a collab with yourself. There is a unifying theme within the story. You need to find one within the visuals. Something that's uniquely you.

Keep up the good work. I hope you grow into yourself.

Yes I have to agree... I did mix it up quite a bit... and thats the weak part of my flash. actually theres quite a few weak parts with a few strong parts you know. But like you say im still growing into my style. Im still learning what my style is. Im still learning. Maybe when I go to collage I will go for animation. I have to decide between graphic design and animation... Its very hard do choose. anyways Thank You So much for the advice. And thank you for not being rude like some people!
